People Friendly: Teachers’ Guide to AI
Table of Contents
Welcome to the Teachers’ Guide to Artificial Intelligence, by Dr Linda McIver and Laura Summers. This Guide is a simple explanation of the field of Artificial Intelligence, what it can and can’t do, as well as the social and ethical issues inherent in the technology, and the way it is being developed and used. To that extent, it’s a guide for everyone! For teachers, we’ll also provide practical classroom activities that you can use to explore this topic.
There’s a huge amount of hype around Artificial Intelligence, Chatbots (or Large Language Models), and their impact on our lives, and our world. Let’s cut the hype and make this technology intelligible to everyone. Our goal is to empower you to see through the hype, and ask rationally sceptical questions about AI.
